IntelliWebSearch is a freeware application designed to save translators and terminologists time when searching the web.
What does IntelliWebSearch do?
Pressing a convenient shortcut key combination (CTRL+ALT+B by default, but this may be changed by the user):
- copies highlighted text from a Windows application (MS Word, Déjà Vu, SDLX, etc.) by simulating the copy function shortcut key combination (CTRL+C by default);
- strips the text of paragraph marks, line breaks, tabs, double spaces, punctuation marks and various other superfluous characters (customizable);
- opens your default browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc.) and sends the copied text to one of up to fifty user preset search engines, on-line dictionaries or on-line encyclopaedias together with other customizable instructions which limit the search according to the advanced search options available for the engine / dictionary / encyclopaedia chosen. Alternatively it can send the same text and instructions to local dictionaries on CD-ROM or installed on your hard disk.
IntelliWebSearch is designed to be highly customizable, and to work (in theory) with any browser and any Windows application that has a copy function which can be accessed through a shortcut key combination.
IntelliWebSearch est un gratuiciel conçu à l'intention des traducteurs et terminologues, qu'il a pour objet d'aider à gagner du temps lorsqu'ils font des recherches sur le Web.
Que fait IntelliWebSearch?
Appuyer sur un raccourci clavier (CTRL+ALT+B par défaut, mais l'utilisateur peut choisir une autre combinaison) permet :
- De copier du texte mis en surbrillance dans une application Windows (MS Word, Déjà Vu, SDLX, etc.) en simulant le raccourci copie (CTRL+C par défaut).
- D'éliminer les marques de paragraphe, sauts de ligne, tabulations, espaces excédentaires, signes de ponctuation et divers autres caractères superflus (sur commande).
- D'ouvrir le navigateur par défaut (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc.) et d'envoyer le texte ainsi copié a) soit
à l'un d'une cinquantaine d'outils choisis par l'utilisateur : moteurs de recherche, dictionnaires ou encyclopédies en ligne;
b) soit à un dictionnaires local sur CD-ROM ou sur le disque dur, le tout assorti des instructions permettant de cibler les recherches qu'offrent les différentes options de l'outil considéré.
IntelliWebSearch s'adapte sans difficulté aux particularités de chacun et fonctionne en principe avec n'importe quel navigateur, ainsi qu'avec toute application Windows pourvue d'une fonction copie régie par un raccourci.
